JoE - That new EcoBoost motor is going to be big I think. Crazy numbers from turbocharging and direct injection - definitely the wave of the future. Kudos to Ford.

The SFE package also uses a 3.55 rear end which is why its towing numbers are not as high as the other models. I agree this package was a bit of a let down but still a good idea by Ford as I'm sure they'll sell plenty of them. The real fuel savings will be coming in 2010 with the ecoboost v6 which combined with the new 5.0 and 6.2 v8s will no doubt keep the F-150 the best selling vehicle in the world for some time to come.

What ever trips your trigger. Quality for the F-150 is good now but back in my 03 it wasn't and the service I got wasn't also. I won't ever look at a Ford again.

The 2009 F-150 rides like a dream. I thought my '06 150 4x4 was smooth but the new '09 blows it out of the water. I would sacrifice a few MPGs for a quality truck any day.

Bubba - Fair enough. Keep in mind that most independent testers have placed the F150's fuel economy in the same range as the Tundra, the GM trucks, and the Ram. That advantage is on paper only my friend.

What is really interesting is that the F150 (without the SFE) gets better fuel economy than the Toyota Tundra (by 2 or 3 highway miles per gallon, depending on model).

See the details at fueleconomy dot org

Daniel - This isn't a knock against the F150 - far from it. This is a knock against the silly "SFE" package that makes no sense.

Don't knock it. Ford produces well built trucks. Their problem is fuel economy and poor use of mechanical technology.
