Here’s a look at Todd’s “Rogue Squadron” 2008 Toyota Tundra Crewmax Limited.

'Rogue Squadron's' Black 2008 Toyota Tundra Crew
As you can see, it’s a TRD 4×4 with a clean-as-can-be black paint job. We really like the black rims on this truck – it looks great but it’s also a very practical off-road choice – fancy rims are too expensive to risk scuffing up on the trail.

N-Fab brush guard and Pro-Comp fog lights.
Kudos to Todd for his clever exhaust setup on this truck – he added a set of Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers to the TRD exhaust system. A lot of people don’t think that the standard TRD exhaust is aggressive enough, and Todd’s modification is a simple way to get more sound out of the TRD kit while maintaining the TRD kit’s fit and finish.
Factory Equipment and After Market Accessories

Lookin' mean with Toyo Tires and a TRD exhaust with Flowmaster Super 40 mufflers.
Todd’s Tundra has pretty much every factory option you could hope to find on a 2008 Tundra…plus a very nice list of extras:
- Factory Navigation system with OEM backup camera and parking sensors
- After-market Navigation Safety Override Switch which enables the use of navigation system, even when the truck’s in motion.
- Keyless remote ignition (of course).
- Vaistech iPod Adaptor
- Dark tinted windows
- K&N Cold Air Intake
- TRD Aluminum Skid Plate
- Black Head-Light Mod (NICE.)
- TRD Catback Exhaust Sytem, with muffler swapped to Flowmaster Super 40. We really like this modification (see more below).
- N-Fab Nerf Bars and N-Fab Brush Guard
- Pro-Comp 130 Watt Off-Road Lights
- Toytec 3/1 Leveling Kit
- 18″ Eagle Series 197 Wheels (-11 Offset)
- Toyo Open Country MT 33″x12.5×18 Tires
Todd (a.k.a. “Rogue Squadron” on IBTOHQ.com and SoCalTundras.com) has gone all out with this truck, and it’s not just for show. He’s not afraid to get it dirty…

Rogue Squadron’s Upcoming Tundra Modifications:
- McNeil Racing 4″ Fiberglass Front Fenders
- Defender Roof Rack with Light Bar
- Camburg Engineering Long Travel Kit
Todd – awesome truck man!

Very nice truck and practical. Didn’t see you at the SoCal meet in May. Definitely love the offset and making that TRD sound nicer with the Flowmaster swap.
Great Job and nice truck…. keep the excellent work…
dude where did u get that switch that lets u use the nav when its in motion ?
Hey guys, Todd here. Thanks for the kind words. Tmac, regarding your question, the device is called a NAV Speed Pulse Generator. You can build it yourself or have the creator make one for you for a price. The instructions are provided for free however. Here is the link:

Best thing about Todd’s photos: the nice little diamond bling of light at the corner spots on the grille!
what did you use to get the black color on the inner casing of your lights?
I want to do this mod on my truck but I don’t know what to use.
Manuel, it is called the “Black Headlight Mod” you put your lights in the oven and the heat causes them to separate then you spray paint the housing and put it back together. Go to ibtohq.com and search for black headlight mod. the guys will help you out.
Hey I was wonderin where you purchased your running boards.. I’ve been lookin around for some just like those but can’t find anything with the single steps.
david88 – Those are N-Fab running boards bro – check out the specs in the article!
I’m lookin a nice super black finished rim for my 2007 tundra but everything I find they don’t seem to make anymore. Any suggestions ?
david88 – I just checked TireRack and they have half a dozen blacked out rims for the 07 Tundra – http://www.tundraheadquarters.com/tirerack.php

If i upgrade my muffler (2008 tundra dbl cab all stock) to a flowmaster or the cherry bomb vortex would i need to go to a dual exhaust system or can i just run the existing pipes just switch to a new muffler? i ask only because of the size of the stock muffler i dont want to get something that will cause more back pressure and steal horses from my tundra
joe – You don’t have to buy new pipes – there are many mufflers that will work with the stock setup.
grrrrrrrooowllll
GREAT TRUCK!! Did you have to lift the truck or make any modifications to make the wheels/tires fit?
Great Truck!
I tried the link to the nav fix and it no longer exists.
Do you have the instructions? I’ve searched high and low.
Thanks
Steve – You’re looking for the safety overide fix instructions, correct?
If so, I’m sorry to say I don’t have them.
