Huntington Beach Lifeguard Toyota Tundra

Huntington Beach lifeguarding has always been a “cool” job with all the scenic views. Add that to the ability to drive around in a full-sized Toyota Tundra, it is definitely that much cooler.

Lifeguard Toyota Tundra

One sweet looking Toyota Tundra to cruise the beaches while checking out the scenic views.

Toyota is the official lifeguard vehicle of Surf City. This arrangement means the city gets the full use of 11 Toyota vehicles without having to pay for them. Toyota then gets the exclusive sponsorship opportunity to be the lifeguards ride.

The truck looks like a pretty standard Tundra with the obvious addition of lights and the surf board holder in the bed. It is most likely equipped with all sorts of emergency responder radio systems in the dash.

Lifeguards use the trucks to patrol the 3.5 miles of shoreline from dawn to dusk, 365 days a year. This amount of shoreline means that up to 65 lifeguards are employed during the summer season.

Besides the Tundra, the lifeguards also use:

  • 24 Lifeguard Towers & Tower Zero on the pier equipped with medical supplies
  • 11 Fully-equipped Toyota Emergency Vehicles
  • Underwater Search & Recovery Team Gear (SCUBA/Wetsuits & Dry suits)
  • Personal Protection Equipment for Chemical & Biological Exposures/Mark I Auto Injector Kits
  • 3 Twin-Engine Rescue Vessels
  • 4 Rescue Honda Personal Watercraft (PWC)
  • 1 Inflatable Rescue Boat (motorized)
  • 8 Inflatable flood boats
  • 4 Honda ATVs
  • Swiftwater/Flood Rescue Equipment
  • Cliff Rescue Gear Bags/Light Rescue Rigging Systems

Not a bad collection of items for a beach that saw almost 8 million visitors and nearly 3,000 rescues in 2010.

It would be cool to think of Toyota changing their slogan for this area. Something like “Whether you need help on land or in the water, the Toyota Tundra will get you there!” Well, ok, that might be a stretch. Let’s just enjoy thinking about driving this cool truck while checking out the “scenery.”

Vehicles on the beach are cool to sit with while you enjoy the sun and surf. Only thing too many run overs are happening where the vehicle’s driver isn’t paying attention and runs over someone.

Huntington Beach, California lifeguards always on patrol.and the vehicles they used are amazing and extraordinary.

  3. You don’t want to linger until the last minute
to make your plan so I would recommend reading the waterway guidebook in advance.
The old art of stealth in carp fishing seems to be as dead as the
dodo on most carp waters today and it seems to me that the average carp angler is
so manically driven to get in a swim set up and cast out they have no idea it is far better to think like the fish and not an angler
first and truly give carp the respect they deserve that will guarantee to give them the
catches their strive so manically for. Be sure to vacuum floors,
rugs and upholstery your pet comes in contact with regularly.
