Ninja Ed’s Custom SEMA Tundra

“Ninja Ed” might have started with a stock 2008 Toyota Tundra, but the mod bug bit hard. So hard, in fact, that he ended up putting together one of the most eye-catching custom Tundras in the country.

Ninja Ed's Tundra and its imposing front view.

Jason ran into Ninja Ed’s masterpiece at the 2010 SEMA show and after snapping some photos was able to get in touch with Ed and get some of the details behind the build. Check it out.

In the beginning, there was stock.

The truck during its SEMA 010 appearance.

One of the most noticeable changes to the Tundra is its towering ride height, which was facilitated by the installation of a 12-inch Bulletproof suspension lift kit and Atlas leaf springs out back. This helps the truck to clear its 20-inch, custom painted MOZ Black Jack rims, which sport 37-inch Interco SS-M16 tires. Helping to complete the off-road ready look are a set of Bushwacker Pocket Style flares painted to match the truck’s white finish, as well as a rack of KC Hilites Rally 800’s, an AMP Research Powerstep on each side of the vehicle and an AMP Research BedStep out back.

Ninja Ed's 12-inch lift is not for the faint of heart.

The Bulletproof lift kit is an impressive piece of work.

Of course, equally distinctive are the No Fear .50cal grille, smoked taillights with light-up revolver inserts and a number of subtle trim and paint touches that add detail to the truck’s commanding appearance. An A.R.E. LSX bed cover keeps cargo safe from curious onlookers, and functional tow mirrors give the truck an extra degree of practicality. Under the hood, the Tundra sports a Volant cold air intake, while Ninja Ed can also get the attention of passersby by either revving the engine (whose thunderous exhaust exits through a set of 2.25-inch Powerstick Mufflers feeding 4.5-inch RBP tips), or by using the truck’s COGA PA system.

A hard-to-ignore lane change.

The bumper insert is really eye-catching, and Ed tells us that single part (which is made by Ansani Designs) really got the old ‘sponsorhip ball’ rolling. Shout-out to Ansani and their custom bumper insert for the 2007+ Tundra!

Ed would also like us to mention Fuel Off-Road and Advanced Automotive Concepts (aka Oracle) for sponsoring some of his equipment.

Ninja Ed has conquered Vegas - and CarDomain - with his custom Tundra.

Ninja Ed’s truck has garnered more than its fair share of attention at several custom shows – not just SEMA – and it continues to be the highest rated Tundra on the popular CarDomain online community.

Ed did a great job with his truck! He’s raised the bar for fellow Tundra owners to out-do him. Hopefully he’s not too much in debt to the Vegas loan sharks & mob….

Seen the truck before and it looks even better today. I didn’t realize it was a 12″ BP lift….and what happened to the pocket flares in one of the pics above? I guess that was 2010 so by 2011 the Bushwackers were on. Anyway, awesome work. It looks clean without being overdone. You deserve the hype for a well-planned modded truck. Anything on the interior?

  8. Jason (Admin) says:

TXTee – Good call on the fender flares…didn’t notice that at first.
