Top 10 Toyota Tundra Stories for 2011

Here is our Top 10 list of the stories that stood out to us in 2011.

10. Ford Announces New ‘Merican Edition F150
For a while now we have been talking about the whole buy American absurdity. Finally, our ire has boiled over into this entirely true article.

9. Announcing the Eliminator
Yes it is true we have had a few parts issues in working on this project, but what a great idea. It is our hope that 2012 will be the year of the Eliminator.

8. Toyota Exports Expand – It’s All About The Weak Dollar
We covered several stories this year about how Toyota has started exporting American made cars overseas especially to South Korea. This trend, thanks to a weak dollar, will only work to strength American labor.

7. Toyota’s Profit Plunges with Supply Shortages
Who can blame Toyota for profits dropping over the past year? When you consider the earthquake that hit Japan in March and the flooding in Thailand combined with a weak world-wide economy, it isn’t all that shocking. We covered this ongoing story throughout the year.

6. Fuel Doctor Review – Does it Work?
We were definitely skeptical when this project started and we shared our unbiased, transparent results with you. You know what? That thing works!

5. The Turbocharged V6 Truck Revolution Is Coming
Quite a few of us “in the know” were surprised by Ford’s Turbocharged V6 sales numbers. Turns out they did quite well and this could be a new trend for full-size trucks.

4. Ford and Toyota Reach Hybrid Agreement – Who Wins?
This year we seemed to report a lot on Ford, so it seems ironic that Ford and Toyota reached a Hybrid agreement. Unlike our website, the jury is still out on this deal.

3. Toyota Warranties Air Injection Pump System – Reimbursement Available
After years of trying to address this issue, Toyota stepped up and is offering reimbursements for this insanely expensive issue. Thank you Toyota!

2. Ford Weaseling Out Of Full F-150 Airbag Recall
Grr… We are still a bit ‘hot’ on this issue. What with all that Toyota has gone through with their quality issues and now Ford doesn’t have to fulfill their obligations. Grr….

Drum roll please…

1. NHTSA and NASA Say Toyota Electronic Throttles Are Just Fine
What a year for Toyota with the earthquake, flooding and quality issues. For NHTSA and NASA (yeah, that NASA) putting an issue to bed, is a great relief for them. This dark cloud was hanging over the entire company and Tundra owners were particularly concerned about finding issues with their trucks. Nothing is wrong, repeat, nothing is wrong.

#1 really pisses me off just like the floor mat issue and gas pedal recall both of which are really NOT an issue at all.

  2. Mickey says:

mk Toyota was basically forced into these recalls. With Ray Lahood screaming bloody murder Toyota had to do something to show they were searching for the answer. Jason here’s one for you. Doesn’t look good:

    please keep it up.

  4. Will says:

Ford and Toyota will work together on a hybrid drivetrain for pickup trucks and SUVs, allowing them to more quickly and affordably create technology that meets strict new fuel economy standards.
