EDITOR’S NOTE: As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we are pulling out an old post from our Archives. This feel-good story is just great and needs to be shared and shared again and shared once more. God Bless our Troops!

Sun Toyota near Tampa, Fl is giving one brave Marine, a brand new 2012 Toyota Tundra Crewmax Limited 4×4 full-size pickup truck on Memorial Day, May 28, 2012. A very, cool way to give him back some mobility.

Sun Toyota posted his story on their website. According to them, “U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Justin Gaertner, 21, was patrolling for mines in the Marja district of Afghanistan when an improvised bomb, stuffed in a glass jug, exploded beneath his feet. His legs were decimated. Shrapnel blasted into his abdomen and shredded his left arm. He was flown to Washington, D.C., where he began what doctors said would be a long and daunting recovery.” Sun Toyota goes on to point out that of the 46,000 American troops wounded during the decade long wars, nearly 1,200 have lost a limb(s).

Lance Corporal Gaertner will be escorted to the dealership by the Florida Patriot Guard Riders to get his keys. Every branch of the military will be on hand to show their support.

Justin Gaertner's customized Toyota Tundra

Lance Corporal Justin Gaertner’s customized Toyota Tundra to give him back some mobility.

The truck has been customized for his injuries with hand controls and step bars since he walks with the aid of two prosthetic legs. It looks like they also gave him a remote start and bedliner.

It is always good to see people/businesses helping veterans. We hope Lance Corporal Gaertner enjoys his Tundra as much as we do.
